Consider Xero, which starts at $9/mo. I don't know if there is multilanguage support, but see if you can customize the account names so they're in Portuguese. Even if the menus and such are in English, they're few in number. You can get a free trial.
At that subscription level, multicurrency feature is not included, but if everything is in reales then it doesn't matter.

I am looking at Sage 300, Budgetrac and Yardi, but with a 5 minute search on Google I find easily a dozen or more other possibilities, and I am wondering if there is one software especially for the single user company? I want to avoid reaching out to companies that are costing several thousand USD per license and need extensive implementation time and
I don't know if Xero or QuickBooks Online has job costing capabilities, so find that out first. If not, for a single user, you can't go wrong with QuickBooks Desktop Edition. It has job costing and loan draw management, and it's so popular that training opportunities abound. You can easily get basic training from YouTube, and then work with someone just for the industry-specific features you're looking for.
Once you are up to speed, which usually doesn't take more than a few hours, you can train your personnel. This is going to be your most cost-effective approach.
