Accounting Technology Trends

What do you see as the trends in accounting technology and what would you like to see more or less of?

Trend: A movement to adopt cloud based accounting systems.

What I want to see less of are the alarmists putting out guideance about security threats when there are none when proper vendors are chosen.

The old guard doesn't have much to offer, so they try to send out scare tactic messages to hold back the movement.

Thanks, Valerie... good points. What about cost and pricing trends? My hope is that competition drives down cost. As often as that may happen, endless add-ons seem to complicate the TCO picture.

Also, one of my pet peeves about accounting technology and software in general is that it's often too complicated for many actual users to use most effectively. I'd often trade complication, with it's promise of additional features, for ease of effective use.
