I run a compliance Advertising Agency (we're an LLC) that purchases newspaper print ads (classified job ads) on behalf of clients. What Expanse category do I select in Quickbooks (or generally, in accounting)? 1. Clients pay us the amount of the classified newspaper print ad + a fee. 2. The client pays by check or credit card. 3. We then buy the ad for them from the newspaper using our company debit card and obtain a receipt. Our question is, after we purchase the ad, and need to classify the expense category, what category do we select? We are using Quickbooks at present but if you have a more general explanation that's most welcome as well. I don't think it falls under Advertising & Marketing because we aren't advertising or marketing for ourselves. Does this fall under "Cost Of Goods Sold"? Or some other expense category?
