Hello, I was wondering if anyone on this forum has had experiencing working with the ADP GL interface of ADP to create your journal entries for payroll. My company uses ADP GL, but we have been having trouble reconciling to our cash account. We did go through the ADP payroll register vs. ADP GL and agreed it completely so we know we do not have a setup issue within ADP GL. The issue we are having is the Cash pulled from the bank is different than what is populating in ADP GL. Does anyone know the common issues associated with reconciling? It looks like the main issue is manual checks, but want to see if anyone else had thoughts. I have tried contacting ADP GL and they have not been very helpful.
ADP GL Reconciliation to Payroll Cash Account
Answers
I have had simlar issues. We use ADP GL interface and although the cash deducted from the bank do reconcile, we have had issues reconciling employee deductions. The reporting that comes from the PayAtWork ADP system is not user friendly and I have also not found ADP support helpful either. I'm almost at a point where I am ready to start looking at other options. Hopefully someone here can help.
How is your GL organized? We would use a suspense account ("Payroll Clearing") as the credit side of the ADP interface totals. We would then reconcile the bank using the ADP payroll register (Grand totals Page?) debiting the Payroll Clearing account and crediting Cash. This should zero the Payroll Clearing every payperiod, and help you quickly see the differences.
Hello. What kind of
This is a common issue. ADP sends us transactions (faxes) of all "one time" transactions. We track these religiously in baking into our reconciliation process. Some of the more common problems you mentioned...including manual checks from A/P that need to get back into the system,
We use ADP's G/L interface and I have to say it works exactly as it should. The only thing I can imagine is that some of the employee related deductions are not mapped correctly and/or variable payroll/service fees (which are debited separately to our bank account) are deducted alongside the payroll related costs leaving you with this reconciliation issue.
I have found that if you have a check to a IRA account that they are sending, you will need to add that amount to the bank withdrawal on the journal entry.
