Generally these systems provide critical insight into the areas of customer profiling, customer support, market research, market segmentation, product profitability, financial and statistical analysis, and inventory and distribution analysis.
Business Intelligence solutions come in the form of packaged applications and reporting tools. Packaged application providers include Cognos (IBM), Hyperion (Oracle), Business Objects (SAP), Applied Analytics, and a myriad of other providers.
