With public cloud providers, you’re told when the upgrades are going to happen, because in the public cloud your system shares the application with others. This also limits your ability to implement customizations. In a private cloud environment, where you have your own dedicated VLAN or pod, you’re generally able to work with your provider to determine when and how an upgrade will be performed.
