Data and Document Retention Policy Implementation

Can anyone recommended online reference materials or other resources for assistance on refining a data rentention policy document.  I would like to find a resource to verify our retention timeframes based upon different types of documents and also am looking for any training related materials or implementation guides to help rollout the data retention policy and ensure compliance across our organization.  My goal is to have a clear user guide to help people make the file vs. archive vs. destroy decision when thinking about various forms of electronic data and hard copy records, contracts and files.  Thanks!
