The functionality that cloud and VoIP systems offer can change how you guys do business. You'll probably ask yourself why you waited so long.
I used to work for Motel. They have an amazing product offering and support team. It doesn't sound like your company is a fit for their enterprise system however. I do not know much about ATS; but, I'm pretty familiar with RingCentral.
We are currently using them for our rapidly growing, 24 person oil and gas software development company. We deployed them when we had 10 persons. I like them. You do have to have a reliable network. If you experience downtime frequently, can you quickly get back online? If incoming calls and extremely important (tech support calls), I'd recommend keeping at least one hard wired line.
The RingCentrals management platform is clunky and takes some getting used to, but almost anyone can do it. We have someone inhouse to deal with the admistrative side... But if she's out, its easy to log-in and figure things out on your own. Or, call / email your account manager. They a have quick and friendly support. That's always important to me! The handsets are okay... But I like the control you have to forward calls to certain voicemails, record and download meetings, and the search me find me functionalities. You can download a phone app also to control features; our sales guys like.

Yes, we already have a reliable internet connection. Thank you for your time in answering my questions. I have to say I'm influenced by the generally positive comments on cloud telephony.
We use Phonebooth.com and it works for us. It's also neat that I can autoforward all calls to my mobile phone so callers are not required to re-dial me.
We use VOIP phone devices from Yealink.
We moved to Jive Communications and couldn't be happier (jive.com). We got pre-set up phones, configured the call routing ourselves (they have a really cool visual flow chart for this) and basically just plugged it in.
Disclaimer - we have very fast internet for the amount of people we have,

I use a cloud based system offered by Nextiva. I have experienced a few problems that Nextiva cleared up very quickly. They have been very responsive and able to explain to me in plain language what happened when problems did come up. I am satisfied with the service and would recommend it to a SMB
