We have been using Concur as an online T&E expense reporting tool. Lately the responsiveness and service and availability has begun to really suck. Does anyone have expereince with other automated solutions for efficiently handling T&E, including but not limited to ExpenseWatch?

My last company (100+ people) used Aestiva and we liked it a lot. http://www.aestiva.com/pages/htmlos/08300.2.1622878546517810410/products-expense_report.html. The pricing was not dirt cheap but middle-of-the-road so far as these systems go. It was easy to configure for the administrator and easy to use for the users. It has strong built-in workflow for routing approvals and it's easy for users to attach scans of receipts, etc.
A less expensive and more labor-intensive option that I used two companies back is Expensable. http://www.onemindconnect.com/index.asp. We used their desktop solution which integrated with
I am currently using Expense Visor (www.expensevisor.com). I have worked with them for about 4 or 5 years. The program works really well for us. I would recommend it.
We were using expensewatch (www.expensewatch.com), and it worked well. However on reviewing our expense reporting processes, it was evident that we were only using the product for its workflow of routing approvals and attaching receipts. It therefore was difficult to justify its recurring annual license fee, for the benefits we were accruing. That is when we discovered aestiva (aestiva.com), who wrote us a custom expense reporting system with a strong built-in workflow for routing approvals and attaching scanned receipts and documents for a one time fee, which was about half of our annual license fee commitments to expense watch. Depending on what you require, you may find it interesting to have a discussion with the people at aestiva. We have used them now on 2-3 more projects.
Hi David, Im late to the discussion, but found it during a search for solutions for a client. When you gather the appropriate spend amounts, it would be worthwhile to look at automating the entire T & E process. This can help reduce the amount spent on overall T & E. Placing controls and enforcing policies on the travel booking side and within the expense reporting system can considerably reduce your T&E spend. SutiExpense which was mentioned elsewhere in a proformative discussion(www.Sutisoft.com) does this quite nicely, which may help reduce your spend even further. It is available as SAAS format and therefore offers a lower cost of start up.

check out Virtual Time & Expense http://www.virtualsoftware.net/.
Very similar to Concur (receipt capture, multiple approval levels, basic rules). It lacks the robust expense report enforcement rules that Concur offers. But its a fraction of the cost. It also integrates nicely with Quickbooks.
So this is ideal for smaller companies.
Also I had excellent support.
Bob;
I am curious about the types of issues needing resolution? I have implemented CONCUR in several companies with great success (integrating with both 'A' tier and 'B' tier ERP systems). I have found the product to be very useful and flexible but have heard horror stories such as yours.
I would enjoy the chance to discuss further in this forum or offline.

John
