Do you think there is an opportunity to look at a solution that avoids Excel? You don't mention how many people file expense reports, whether expenses are rebillable to clients, use of personal or corporate credit cards etc, but if you are looking to perhaps modernize and streamline the entire process (starting with the employee incurring an expense), you may want to search the Forum here for some excellent discussion threads, software offerings, user experiences etc.
For example: enter "travel and expense" into the Search menu above and you will see over 130 questions on this topic. No need to re-invent the wheel:)
