How does your company ensure they are ERISA compliant? Did you hire a consultant, join a group, or do your own research?
Getting ERISA Compliant
Answers
We just went through this process for the first time. Since we were above 120 employees, we had to have an audit done by an outside firm. Once we received the audit, there were an number of non-compliance issues and payments required. As a result of this audit, we hired an ERISA attorney to guide us through the compliance issue and properly setup a committee to oversee compliance.
You can also hire an Independent Fiduciary, i.e. ERISA 3(16) Plan Administrator.
