How can I assess bank's internal control?

I just started a new job as a financial controller of an Islamic Bank which is different from other banks. I want to assess their internal control system, especially for their investment department (Murabaha) and customer care department. any suggestions or links regarding this matter? Thanks in advance!

I assume you're in the EMA region. Either way, your controls should comply with the Basel III framework. There are many excellent books out there, but you'll need to research which one best addresses your concerns. In addition, the ECB and the Institute of Internal Auditors have great websites and they produce a lot of content. I recommend both.
