Im not quite sure where the next step takes you from and to but since your consultant spec includes the works: VC funding, IPO, and mergers, I am assuming it is all or one of these.
There are a number of organisations that can provide candidates: FEI, CFOs to go, Tatum, Robert half, etc, not to mention a bunch of independents.
The CFO consultant needs to be experienced and a good fit. This is a service function. My advice is to work through references from happy customers. That is how I get my work as a consulting CFO... referrals from happy CEOs!

The main goal is raising money, working with VCs.
More interested in working with an independent private consultant rather than a consulting company or robert halt etc.
