We are running SAP Business One, which has fairly robust document control features for system generated forms/documents. Please share with me any suggestions and experience you may have with acquiring and implementing a document imaging system that can capture document originals (such as signed proofs of delivery) and index them so that they can be integrated with and identified to the SAP base document for retrieval. Ease of use and scalability are important in considering solutions. I appreciate your contributions.

Terry,
This is a quick response for now, I can add more later.
May I suggest this:
Before you digitize paper and then attach it to a transaction, how about rethinking the process? For example, if your drivers used tablets with an app that displayed a waybill/ POD (Fedex/UPS delivery style) that the customer signed with a stylus or finger, then you save a lot of effort but still capture what you want and storage/retrieval becomes much faster, automated and accurate.
In other words, what really are you wanting to achieve?
Message me if you want to chat further.
Best regards
Len
I have considered this, but I do not think the "model" is close enough to a UPS/FedEx style. They leave a # of boxes and don't even consider waiting for check-in, because they are only the delivery mode. We deliver bulk lubricants and various other of our own products. I think the expectations and sophistication of the customer and their systems are just as relevant. Electronic delivery of invoices (which we do) is fraught with enough challenges; I think that providing POD electronically would be a challenge for many customers, requiring maintaining 2 processes anyway. The approach would be 'leading edge' in our industry, at least in this area, but I am open to a solution that works for all of our customer base.
