There’s no hard & fast answer to this question. But if you’re wondering how much time you should spend organizing, laying out, and presenting your information, there’s one answer I feel pretty good about: IT’S ALMOST CERTAINLY MORE THAN YOU THINK. Yes, of course it’s important to produce accurate information, but making the numbers perfect at the expense of producing reports that are comprehensible and meaningful to your audience is a pointless exercise. What’s the point of doing all that work to produce reports that your audience doesn’t really understand or – even worse – doesn’t bother to read because they didn’t understand the last one or it looks too junky and intimidating to even try?
