Does the commuting limit apply to mileage reimbursement from an employer who has no offices within 100s, if not 1000s of miles away? I do work in the Portland Oregon / Vancouver Washington area. My employer is located in New York and, as far as I know, doesn't have an office west of the Mississippi. Does the commuting rule still apply? They're telling me they can't reimburse for the first 30 miles of trips I make to customer sites, but there is NO way I will EVER be commuting to an office of theirs. So, does the commute limit really even apply?...
