Hello Everyone, My company is roughly 20M doing wholesale distribution and have been looking to move to either NetSuite or OpenERP. I have seen Netsuite in action at actual businesses but am having difficulty getting anyone in the US that is using OpenERP that is our size. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to better evaluate OpenERP. I am looking to do a good amount of customization and I feel Netsuite can do it but not sure how OpenERP will work at the end of the day. Thank you! Nik Patel
OpenERP vs. NetSuite

Just a hunch on my part that you are looking to save money by considering OpenERP. If you want a lower cost cloud solution than NetSuite you might want to consider Intacct.
Hey Bob,
I'm not necessarily trying to save money (doesn't hurt). I am looking for the right solution that will work and allow for good customization for our processes and such. I'm assuming that you would think NetSuite would be a better fit if money wasn't an issue?
Thank you
While I did not look at OpenERP when I evaluated a system, one of the key factors for me was support and I felt that NetSuite offered the best support package. I was very pleased with the implementation team but I was more surprised by their support team after we went live. Again, I did not evaluate OpenERP but consider production support because that could make your decision a lot easier.
My question is why you feel the need to customize a cloud product? Any savings you might have buy utilizing one product or another (as other posts have stated) will be negated by the fact that you will constantly have to re-write many of those customizations as your software product matures and is updated/upgraded.
Is it possible that either your needs analysis or system configurations could achieve better results by moving toward a best practice solution, and in this way you can obtain the right software package without customization?
