My company is in the process of looking into a Planning software and moving our budgeting/forecasting process out of
We are a $10M company. I'am pretty computer savy and would prefer to do most implementation and setup on my own and save the company money. I've seen demo's of Adaptive Planning's system that makes this look possible.
Do you use either of these? How well do they work for you? Did you implement them yourself? How did that go if you did? Why did you pick it?
If you use another software, what? Why did you pick it? Pricing?
Any insight would be really appreciated!
Thank you,

Hi Kate, I just went through an Adaptive Planning implementation. We were up and running before our free trial expired and we did the implementation ourselves. (two people) I am happy to discuss my experience with you if you want more information about AP.
Best,
Steve
How big is your company? Did you do any other vendor research? If so, why did you choose Adaptive?
If you know how to run a GL, then you should have limited hiccups with implementation of Adaptive; especially for anyone who has build financial / budgeting models within excel.
I have not used Cognos, have only reviewed demos in the past, but the cost structure appeared high.
I am a big proponent of web-based systems, especially for companies that have limited IT infrastructure to lean on.
Adaptive will run you b/t $700 to $950 per year, per user (subscription model, per seat). Implementation and training can run b/t $2500 and $12,000, depending on the complexity of the organization, especially if you opt to have AP hold your hand. You can do it mostly/all on your own though.
In full disclosure, I like the progam so much that I recently became a resale and implementation partner with AP; as it fits well with my consulting practice. Feel free to shoot me additional questions and I will do my best to answer, without any kind of sell job... Thanks.
Hi Kate
I've been a VAR Partner with Adaptive since 2006; implementation can be as short as a week depending on the complexity of your currency Excel model and G/L integration (or other databases)
Be happy to help if you wish to discuss further.

Kate,
You may also want to consider Hyperion - it is on the expensive side, though.
You should defintely look at Alight Planning (www.alightplanning.com). It is a very efficient package and is gaiining a lot of traction in the market place.
I think that given the size of your company that Adaptive is the right fit. I have been using Adaptive sine 2005 and the version that is currently out is the best for the money. Alight is a good product but in my estimation too new. I am sure it will improve over the years in terms of features but for the money I would recommend Adaptive. Cognos, Hyperion are in my opinion too costly...even for the larger companies that use them.
