According to the article (link below), ERP as we knew it is almost dead. The on-premise system is essentially gone. The mega-suite systems are diminishing and quickly.
What will survive is the Best of Breed Cloud Solutions with all the tricky connectivity and integration done by the cloud providers themselves.
What's your take on this; does it improve the marketplace and ERP or just make it more of a problem?

Systems are just following business models. Monolithic business models and systems are passe. ECO SYSTEM business models and systems are in. The fight is now where those ecosystems are going to reside. AWS, Microsoft and all the others are making their "worlds" more conducive to hosting these ecosystems.
When outtages/errors occur, it does NOT take the whole system (company) down. The near term next step would be the emergence (actually seeing this already) of APPS and MOBILE in the enterprise. Then chatbots. Then chatbots evolving into AI interactions.
