My company recently acquired a majority share of another business. We will be absorbing approximately 30 new employees as a result, and will process their payroll and administer their benefit plans. Do we need to re-run background checks and re-certify their I-9 documentation, or can we just accept the documentation on file pre-acquisition?
Proper Onboarding of New Employees At Aquisition

Regarding the I-9 the Fed govt gives you a choice. See below and take note of the exception shown there.

The background check issue will depend on the state you are in. So you need legal advice there.
By some studies, employees are twice as likely to leave an employer after an acquisition. Your biggest problem might be retaining the best ones --- they are even more likely to leave: https://www.cfo.com/ma/2018/10/does-your-ma-integration-playbook-need-updating/
