I'm looking for a cloud solution for 1099-MISC and 1099-DIV that both efiles with the IRS and sends out the 1099s to the recipients. Pass postings have recommended Intuit, but they do not send the 1099s (looks like you have to print and send yourself) nor do they do 1099-DIV. A vendor that does it all would be most helpful. Thanks!

A related question (assuming I cannot find a cloud vendor to do everything) is "are laser-compatible forms for 1099s still required, or can the forms be printed from a laser printer on blank paper." If preprinted forms are required, why is it that they cannot be printed from a laser printer? Thanks.
As time is of the essence, I will attempt to answer my own questions.
First, I couldn't find any cloud providers of 1099s (1099-MISC and 1099-DIV) which efile with the IRS and mail forms to the recipients. Thus, I'll assume there are none that fit our needs.
Second, it appears that pre-printed forms are required for filing with the IRS, but not for recipients. Thus, Intuit's solution ($25 before 1/18) which includes efiling with the IRS allows printing of the recipient's 1099s from blank paper (no forms needed). Unfortunately for us, Intuit's service only covers 1099-MISC.

I have used both outright.com and Intuit's 1099 filing service. I didn't love either one.
They were both stand alone services that required me to enter all of the information that already existed in other systems. Their process for importing data was crap.
I found it really annoying that Intuit's 1099 filing system (which is cloud-based) does NOT work with their
However, both services took care of all of the electronic filing and I never had to print the multi-page forms.
Greatland.com has desktop and online options (WinFiler, speedEfiler.com respectively). I have used the desktop version before and you can either do the data entry, or there are options to export it from the system you are using and import it into the system. It's slightly laborious, but depending on the number of 1099s to file, it may be worth it.
They will do all kinds of 1099 forms, including W-2s. They also have the option of printing, stuffing and mailing directly to the recipients.
As far as the printing it yourself goes, the IRS requires their copy to be on the pre-printed *red* inked paper - for their scanning purposes. The recipient, company, and state (if necessary) copies can be on black inked forms, printed directly from software or pre-printed paper. The IRS will allow you to order the red copies on their website, either for free or for a minimal cost. I apologize I can't remember, but I can say it's better than ordering from a 3rd-party vendor.
After some evaluation, I just ordered W2 Mate from Real Business Solutions at realtaxtools.com. Looks like it can do everything you are looking to do and very reasonably priced. It delivered quickly and we are just starting to use it by importing a CSV file with the data needed. You can efile or print for IRS, as well as e-send to recipients or mail plain paper printed forms to them. Looks simple to use.
