Hello, I have a cleaning company, I work for several real estate agents as a sub-contractor, they send a 1099 for the amount of money that they've paid me throughout the year. I have a new agent that I'm starting to work for, I sent her an invoice for a days work, she replied that I need to charge her sales tax on the work that that I did. (Although she will 1099 me on same work), is she correct by asking me to pay sales tax? This is the only time I've been asked to do so.
Should I be charging sales tax?

It depends! What state you are in and the types of clients you have will impact the requirement.
