From an Investor Relations (IR) perspective, are there any situations in which it is desirous to have shareholders that are index funds versus funds that are focused on growth or fundamentals?

Index funds attempt to match the performance of a broad market index. From an IR perspective, we would prefer investment decisions to be based upon the company’s investment characteristics and its ability to pursue growth prospects which should produce better results than broad market indices.
